Rugged and Ready: How Carhartt Gear Enhances Dad's Everyday Adventures
I've recently come across the phrase 'Doing Carhartt Shit,' which, as far as I understand, is used by youths (or possibly hipsters) who venture outdoors to do anything remotely resembling rugged work. Of course, I appreciate that they're at least getting outside and might accidentally learn something.
Dads often find themselves outside doing so-called 'Carhartt shit' too. And despite the hype, Carhartt really does offer rugged and functional clothing. The best gifts are often those that dads find both stylish and practical. With its recent surge in popularity among many demographics, Carhartt clothing has become more than just functional; it's something you can wear out and still look great in.
I love Carhartt’s beanies because they not only hold up for whatever type of work you're doing while keeping you warm, but they also offer such a great line of colors. You can wear them for all kinds of events or situations, from going out for dinner or to the bar, to shoveling the driveway, running or rucking outside, cutting firewood, working on the truck, and anything in between. I love having the option to match the fit, it doesn’t matter what I am doing, I like to look good.
Now let's talk about something I don’t see nearly enough: dudes walking around in insulated bibs. I mean, what's not to love about a great insulated bib? Carhartt bibs are perfect for the dad who always has something to work on, the dad who likes being outdoors no matter what, the dad who knows he's going to be standing on the sideline watching his kid play fall or winter sports, or even the dad whose kid is immune to the weather and insists on playing outside no matter how cold it is. Tasks such as taking down the Christmas lights in January is certainly more bearable when I’m wearing bibs. Around here, people often frequent great local bars with patios and bar yards. Sure, they have space heaters outside, but when you let your lady stand next to the heater to keep warm, you can wear your bibs, hoodie, Carhartt hat, and some winter gloves so that cold drink doesn't chill your hand, and you're not only comfortable but also look good while doing it.
One thing I didn't know I would appreciate so much was a pair of work pants. I always used old jeans, and while I generally never had an issue, my jeans would become tattered and torn, eventually giving out. When I got my first pair of Carhartt work pants, I realized why they were a good investment. These pants are not only comfortable but also durable. They hold up for jobs my jeans simply couldn't handle. Beyond that, I use them for everything, from cutting grass to building projects, getting on the roof - you name the job, and these pants go on because it's time to work. Having extra pockets is also such a convenience that I didn't fully appreciate before; the accessibility of having my tools, screws, nails, or other items on me really helps get the job done.
These types of gifts only get better with time, because the more worn-in the Carhartt, the more respected the man wearing it becomes. Us dads are always going to think about you kids, the memories we made while playing in the yard, watching your games, or when you helped us with a project. These gifts have such longevity that they might spark a memory from way back when every time we put them on, for years to come.
